CSA Frequently Asked Questions
-
CSA stands for Community-Supported Agriculture and is a model where members buy shares of a farm's harvest at the beginning of each growing season. This allows the farm to invest in items it needs upfront, which is when the bulk of farm work occurs. In return, members receive a weekly box of fresh produce throughout the season.

There are so many benefits to joining a CSA. Here are some of our personal favorites…
It’s healthy. Because locally-grown produce spends less time in transit and in storage, it is has higher nutrient contents (this is also why it’s more flavorful). We also never use chemical fertilizers or pesticides, which is what store-bought produce is often laden with.
It supports your local economy. We may be biased, but wouldn’t you rather give your hard-earned cash to a small farmer than a giant corporation? When you put money into your local economy, it stays in your community and makes it a better place to live.
It’s efficient. You don’t need to shop for produce in the grocery store, saving you time, energy, and the headache of “what are we eating?”
It’s fun. Cooking with the items you receive in your weekly CSA box often means trying new recipes and getting creative in the kitchen.
It’s sustainable. Our CSA is one of the most environmentally-focused around. By signing up, you’re taking a key step towards being more sustainable, as our fields are constantly working to store climate-warming carbon dioxide.
It’s intuitive. Eating seasonal foods brings us back to how our ancestors ate, which is what our bodies naturally crave.
